A court in Izhevsk fined a participant in a video recording against deforestation 10 thousand.

The Industrial District Court of Izhevsk fined local resident Natalia Kochkina 10,000 rubles for participating in the recording of a video message in connection with deforestation along 40 Let Pobedy Street. Kochkina herself told OVD-Info about this.

Kochkina was found guilty under the article on holding an action without notification (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The judge stated that the protester had organized a picket, although the defense provided video footage that showed that it was a video message being recorded.

Kochkina was detained on December 17 and taken to the police department. After drawing up a protocol in connection with the recording of the appeal, the detainee was brought to the court, where she was held for about five hours. The meeting that day never took place, Kochkina was released.

• Residents of Izhevsk oppose deforestation by ASSO-Stroy construction company: in November 2020, with the permission of the authorities, the company began cutting down trees along 40 Years of Pobeda Street for the construction of a road. Residents are confident that the road can be laid elsewhere without damaging the forest.
