50% of Russians do not support the creation of a Russian unified biometric system, only 19% of citizens have already posted their data in it, RBC writes with reference to the study of the analytical center of Nafi.
The representative of Rostelecom told RBC that today there are many myths about biometrics "and this gives rise to a number of fears and distrust from citizens." In his opinion, the more citizens learn about what biometrics are, how to use it and how it can simplify everyday life, the more people will be ready to use it.
The head of the Russian biometric society (the Association, which includes the largest developers of object recognition systems) Danil Nikolaev believes that distrust is associated with the lack of official and open confirmation of the reliability of a particular system. He emphasized that biometric recognition is probabilistic and subject to errors, some of them are not recorded in the legal field.
