
During the meeting, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) decided to establish a general church disciplinary commission to investigate the offenses committed by priests. This was reported on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“The Synod decided, for a more thorough study of offenses by the clergy, to establish to help the Holy Patriarch, the Holy Synod and the Higher General Church Court of the general church disciplinary commission under the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus',” the message said.
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill made the appropriate proposal.
In September, an investigation into a criminal case against priest Nikolai Zapsky, accused of rape and other crimes against sexual integrity of minors, ended.
