PJSC Severstal abandoned financial claims against the son of the former Russian Prime Minister Vitaly Chernomyrdin. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the arbitration file card. The amount of the debt was 18.23 billion rubles.
According to the file cabinet, out of 18.23 billion rubles, 13.01 billion was for the main debt, and 5.21 billion for a penalty. The court accepted the refusal of Severstal from the claims and excluded Chernomyrdin Jr. from the registry of creditors on December 24, the agency said.
In 2018, the court, upon application of VTB, recognized Vitaliy Chernomyrdin bankrupt. Chernomyrdin was the main owner of the Yakovlevsky mine in the Belgorod region. In 2013, the mine issued a loan in Gazprombank, and the businessman became a guarantor. As a result, the mine could not return the loan, and the debts bought the “Severstal” by Alexei Mordashov. The company was the largest lender of Chernomyrdin, reports Interfax with reference to Fedresurs.
