Bishop Flavian of Cherepovets was defrocked. Roskomnadzor demanded that the article about him on TD be removed

At a court hearing of the Holy Synod, Bishop Flavian of Cherepovets and Belozersk was deprived of his holy orders, the Russian Orthodox Church reports . Roskomnadzor demanded that the article “Such cases” about the bishop be removed.

“The Synod determined to express deep sorrow in connection with the moral and spiritual fall of Bishop Flavian (Mitrofanov) and to find him guilty of actions incompatible with being in the priesthood,” the Synod journal says.

The diocesan court also deprived Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev of his rank. Now this decision must be approved by Patriarch Kirill, RIA Novosti reports. He was banned from ministry in April - the reason was a public insult to the memory of the rector of the Epiphany Cathedral, Alexander Ageikin, “despite the grief of his wife and children, on the day of his death.”

In early December, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church banned Bishop Flavian from serving. At the same time, the Holy Synod called on Flavian to remain in the Pavlo-Obnorsky Monastery and leave it “exclusively in cases of extreme necessity, with the written blessing of His Grace of Vologda.”

In July, Roskomnadzor demanded that the editors of “Takikh Dela” remove the material “Greed and Passion in the Cherepovets Diocese” because, according to the department, the text contained “information about the methods, methods of development, production and use of narcotic drugs.” The drug cocaine was mentioned in the material, but the methods for acquiring and using it were not mentioned in the text. Despite this, TD deleted the publication.
