The authorities of St. Petersburg said that they expect three new waves of Covid after the holidays

Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Evgeny Yelin said that the city authorities expect three new waves of the spread of coronavirus infection after the end of the New Year holidays. His words are quoted by Fontanka:

We are waiting for three new waves [of covid] after the end of the holidays: let's see what happens after the New Year, after Christmas and after people return from vacations.

According to Yelin, due to the “holiday effect” in St. Petersburg, people with coronavirus have been hospitalized by 30% less, since these days people prefer to be treated at home.

The vice-governor also urged residents of St. Petersburg to comply with anti-covid restrictions and “turn on your head”:

The head must always be included. The hardest rejection is the rejection of the head, everything can be dealt with, but the rejection of the head is hard. If you don’t care about your health, you can go for a walk, hug, hang out, but it’s better not to do this.

• Since the end of November, about 3,700 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered daily in St. Petersburg. In total, more than 253 thousand cases were detected in the city, of which 7925 people died, another 153 thousand recovered. The number of active cases, that is, those who are sick right now, exceeds 92 thousand.
