Minsk authorities canceled concerts of stand-up comedian Slava Komissarenko after his jokes about Lukashenko

The Minsk authorities have revoked previously issued permits for holding concerts by stand-up comedian Slava Komissarenko. This was reported by Tut.by with reference to the company that organized the performances.

Komissarenko's speeches were to take place in April 2021. The organizers directly connected the cancellation with public criticism of President Alexander Lukashenko by comedian.

Of course, everyone understands that this happened after Slava's participation in the show "What happened next?" and all public statements about the authorities and the situation in the country.

According to the organizers, the Department of Culture of the Minsk City Executive Committee gives "strange comments" about the cancellation and "each time they refer to new reasons."

• Slava Komissarenko has repeatedly spoken out against the violence that the security forces used against protesters in Belarus and spoke about the falsification of the results of the presidential elections.
• In November 2020, in the program "What happened next?" Komissarenko called Lukashenka "chyk-chyryk" and ridiculed his appearance in public with a machine gun.
• Komissarenko is one of the most famous Belarusian stand-up artists. In the last few years he has been living in Russia and comes to Belarus with concerts once or twice a year.
