The Russian youth hockey team lost to the Canadian team with a score of 0:5 in the semifinal match of the youth world championship. The match was held in the Canadian city of Edmonton. Now Russia can only count on third place in the tournament.

The coaching staff of the Russian national team at the moment when the third period was already ending, decided to change the goalkeeper for a field player. The Canadian team took advantage of this and scored their fifth goal into an empty net.
Also at the match in Edmonton, the US team beat Finland 4-3 in the semi-finals of the World Youth Hockey Championship with a score of 4:3. Thus, the US team reached the final and will play with the Canadian team on January 6 at 05:30 Moscow time. The Russian team in the match for third place, which will be held on January 6 at 01:30 Moscow time, will play with the Finnish team.
