Elon Musk became the richest man in the world

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has become the richest businessman in the world. Thanks to the rise in shares of the electric car company, Musk topped the Bloomberg Billionaires Index , which tracks the fortunes of the richest people online, overtaking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Bloomberg estimates Musk's net worth at $188.5 billion, $1.5 billion more than Bezos.

According to CNBC, Musk has also become the richest person in the world. The TV channel estimates his fortune at $184 billion. Bezos, recalls CNBC, topped the list of billionaires since 2017.

Tesla shares are up 743% in 2020. They continue to rise in price in 2021. On January 7, securities of the electric car maker gained another 4.8% in exchange trading.
