This was reminded by the joke that I first heard from the victim of the Holocaust. After waiting for the end of the war, the commandant of Auschwitz gathered prisoners and announced to them that the camp was closing, thanks to everyone.

In both cases, it was too late. Having triggered the pogrom of the Capitol, Trump proved to the whole world what everyone was afraid of, and what the Kremlin hoped: the dangerous maniac controls, who plunged his country into chaos, undermining the confidence in democracy and leaving the army of its voters, many of which still believe in the stream of presidential lies, which was no longer connected as before, the states of America.

Of course, in all this there was nothing new for that most part of the country that she did not vote for him either four years ago or now. Trump did just what he promised: he refused to give power voluntarily. Even we did not believe in this and became convinced of the seriousness of his intentions only when the president sent his supporters to the Capitol, remaining just in case of the house that the White House has yet served.

Now that the arrests of the perpetrators began, we can carefully look at them. And to the one who laid his legs on the table of the speaker Nance Pelosi and stole her letter, leaving 25 cents in return. And to the one who dragged the department of the speaker. And to that in the tattoo and with the horns, who calls himself a shaman. And to that congressman (!) From Western Virginia that he did a selfie with bandits and proudly put them on Facebook. And to the one who went to the Senate toilet and deliberately did not let down the water.

Probably, this was the crowd that took the winter. According to Gorky, the liberators laid heaps in the vases of Sevres porcelain.

All their Trump, who had been enjoying a spectacle for several hours, called publicly, on national television, “favorite patriots”.

Almost all pogroms arrived from afar. Many knew why, therefore they took with them uniforms, helmets, confederatic flags, Molotov cocktails, bombs, weapons, including a semi -automatic rifle, which one acquaintance calls the “daughter”, while others use Trump's portraits for executions and, at the same time, with the same Auschwitz, because without anti -Semites, rebellion is not full.

My Washington friends, carefully looking at the puffers who settled the metropolitan hotels, found something in common with them: the seal of outsiders. They did not really know what to do, how to behave and what they eventually want. Holding themselves and infecting from other impudence, the pogromers climbed into the Capitol, calling him their house. It is really considered a folk house, because it belongs to the elected people's representatives, but these did not go into the subtleties and grabbed what would fall by the arm, with a familiar slogan "Breb, the loot."

It seems that they first joined politics when they found in the White House the one who speaks the language that they understand, but loudly:

“They conducted you,” they heard from Trump on the rally, “you were deceived, they took me away from you, show everyone who is the owner here, America loves the strong.”

The prosecutor’s office will still decide the question of criminal liability for this monologue, but there was no doubt. And everything is already clear with Trump.

The failure of the Washington putsch in 2021, it would seem, should end in the same way as Moscow, in 1991.

Then the Communists instantly disappeared, the trumpists began to scatter now. All Trump's main defenders stuck the pogrom: both Vice President Mike Pence, and the leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell, and the most loyal apologist for the presidential lawlessness of Lindsay Graham, who, as they say in America, “crossed the air” and forgot about what he said a day ago. Then the White House left almost the sheet, the closest employees fled, and avid fans renounced. The president was cut off from social networks. Observers of leading newspapers and channels, which have been waiting for five years, solemnly announced the political death of the president who tried to usurp power.

“Now,” they said, “he is not shining in the elections in 2024, he and the“ Gray Cardinal ”, managing the Republican Party from the Florida field for golf, and will not be taken to the previous work in real TV.” The day of the putty, the first attempt to disrupt the legal transfer of power, will remain in the history of the republic with a mournful date, like Pearl Harbor and September 11, no one will forget who is to blame.

But very soon everything went in the usual direction, when a meeting of the congress interrupted by the riots resumed, at which Biden’s victory was finally approved in the elections. The broken glasses have not yet been removed, the wounded policemen were still bandaged, still torn papers strewn the floors of ruined cabinets, as Trump supporters in Congress returned to their rams.

Eight senators and 139 congressmen refused to recognize the election result. Unlike the pogroms, who were thrown out of the Capitol shortly before, politicians knew very well that Trump was lying. 60 ships, including the Supreme, rejected all his complaints. They knew, and that their protest would not change anything. Even the republican leaders recognized Biden's victory. But those who refused this to him cynically counted on another. Supporting the president, to put it mildly, they sought to take possession of the rich - 74 million voters - Trump's inheritance and replace it.

So that America does not forget about it, newspapers published a complete list with photographs. The Columnist “Ny Times” Thomas Friedman, who is usually considered moderate, this time advised to cut a gallery of Trumpists from the newspaper in Congress and carry with you in order to tell them in person: “You chose Trump’s loyalty, not the Constitution, which means that they became the conspirators and traitors of democracy, who made events on January 6 are possible.”

More than a thousand books have been written about Trump. And everyone tries to explain it to charisma, often urging him to understand and forgive his supporters, for they, offended by life, do not know what they do, what they believe and what will happen. I also tried to understand Trump’s phenomenon, but I could not enter into dialogue with his fans. In addition, my life in America was so that I did not intersect with the part of it, from where the pogroms of the Capitol appeared.

This does not mean that I do not have familiar trumpists. On the contrary, they surround me as enemies, with which I have already reconciled, and as friends, which is much more difficult to transfer. For decades I know and love people who surrendered to Trump and justify him even today.

My most educated comrade blames the president with only bad manners. In my time, they wrote so about the secretaries of the district committee: hot -tempered, but fair.

My friend-Pestes is sure that the assault on the Capitol was drawn by dressed liberals. Like the linden Indians, who arranged the Boston tea party, they made a defeat, wanting to throw a shadow at the president.

My old friend, condemning the riots, did not forget to add that summer demonstrations against discrimination are incomparably worse, because then they beat the windows and robbed shops, and now they only broke into the building of the congress.

My smart mentor explained that the left -wing people who brought honest people to rebellion are to blame.

All the rest converge in one: no matter what Trump does, Biden will be worse.

I listened to these arguments and in response I want to say something simple and clear. You are all accomplices, for they are to blame for what happened.

Democracy implies responsibility for a personal decision. You yourself chose Trump, who lied to us all five times a day.

You believed in a vile legend about the stolen elections. Without you, Trump would not be able to incite the crowd and undermine the fundamental principles of America.

Trump’s fate has already been decided - whether he himself will leave, will be imperative or hide in the shadow in anticipation of the trial, this president will no longer be. Ahead is a long recovery process - as after Vietnam and Watergate. And he must begin with the same: with a plead of guilt for their choice of those who voted and supported Trump, who betrayed America.
