In Russia, for the first time, a patient infected with the “British” strain of coronavirus has been identified, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said on the Vesti program on the Russia 1 TV channel.
She clarified that this strain was identified during the examination of Russians who returned from the UK.
In December 2020, the UK announced that it had identified a new type of coronavirus infection in the country, due to which the rate of spread of the disease in some regions has increased sharply.
Because of this, the authorities reintroduced a lockdown in London and the southeast of England, canceled the Christmas easing of restrictive measures for England, Scotland and Wales, and also limited air traffic with several countries, including Russia.
