In 2020, Moscow suffered failures in the post -Soviet space. We discuss with political scientist Arkady Dubnov, as the Kremlin plans to recoup in 2021

In early January, negotiations were held in Moscow between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia Ilham Aliyev and Nikola Pashinyan. Also, the participant in these negotiations was Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Discussion of the conditions under which two Transcaucasian post -Soviet countries will cooperate after the 2020 war can be considered a victory of Russian diplomacy. The most important of the achievements - in the region there is no and is not foreseen by the large -scale presence of Turkey. Russia considers it its regional rival.

Also the other day, voting in Kyrgyzstan ended. They chose a new president there - they became oppositionist Sadyr Zhaparov, an active participant in the 2020 revolution, as a result of which the previous President Uboronbai Jeenbekov left the post a earlier. At the same time, a referendum was held in the country - according to its results, Kyrgyzstan from the parliamentary republic will again become presidential. In what is happening, the influence of Moscow can also be found.

In addition, elections in Kazakhstan have recently been held. They were accompanied by statements by Russian and Kazakhstani politicians about the status of the northern (inhabited mainly by Russian) regions of the country.
