The film “Crosses” about the Petersburg prison of the same name was released on Netflix - this is the first Russian -made documentary at the streaming service. The picture was created by the VGTRK with the support of the Ministry of Culture. "Paper" watched the film.

The film is collected from the filming of the old “Crosses” building, an interview with an insulator, prisoners and experts, as well as archival personnel. It begins with a short monologue of the former chief of the isolator about the philosophical meaning of the prison and from the excursion along the corridors of the insulator.

Then the prisoners talk about their perception of “crosses” - for them this is a terrible place, but the term gives time to think about their life and teaches a lot. Consults tell how the letters of prisoners are read: poems are often found in them. Anna Akhmatova’s employee Tatyana Pozdnyakova talks about the timing of Leo Gumilyov, Daniil Harms and Joseph Brodsky. The deputy chief editor of Fontanka Yevgeny Zashenkov talks about orders within the “Crosses” and the history of the prison community. The former head of the pre -trial detention center, Alexander Zhitenev, recalls how people were shot in the isolation ward.

The archival personnel of Vladimir Putin’s visit to the “Crosses” show - he calls this the starting point for the construction of a new insulator. The narrative is interspersed with personnel from the prison hospital and chapel. The film ends with the transition of prisoners to Crosses-2 and a concert of prisoners. The head of the pre -trial detention center promises to petition for the release of UDO for the organizer of the concert.
