The Department of the Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk Region opened a criminal case into the torture of wards of a boarding home for mentally retarded children in the village of Oyash. This is reported on the department's website.

According to investigators, from December 25 to December 29, 2020, the 17-year-old teenager was in a boarding school hospital. During this time he received multiple bruises and abrasions. In addition, the teenager showed signs of exhaustion, the release states. The case was opened under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers).

Previously, the commission of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Novosibirsk Region did not reveal any violations in the work of the boarding school.

“The commission did not reveal any violations in the work of the Oyashinsky orphanage for mentally retarded children in terms of the conditions of detention and living of minors. The head of the boarding home has been instructed to strengthen efforts to organize the rehabilitation process of the pupils and ensure that staff comply with job requirements,” Kommersant quotes the ministry’s message.
