Pyotr Verzilov and Ilya Varlamov were released after being detained in South Sudan

In South Sudan , Pussy Riot member , blogger Ilya Varlamov, his wife Lyubov Varlamova and the director of the European Gymnasium Ivan Bogantsev were released. Verzilov himself told Mediazona about this.

RIA Novosti reported , citing Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova, that “issues related to their departure” from the country are now being resolved.

On the afternoon of January 13, all four were taken off the flight in the city of Capeota and brought to the police department for questioning because of the drone remote control found in Varlamov’s luggage.

Local security officials admitted that the Russians could have been “filming military installations from a drone.” The drone itself was seized from them in Uganda a few days ago.
