Facebook and Twitter lost a total of just over $51 billion in market value in two days, according to Business Insider (BI).
During the week ending January 10, both platforms blocked the accounts of US President Donald Trump. This was "largely opposed" by investors, writes BI.
Facebook's share price fell 4% on January 11 and another 2% on January 12 as shareholders sold shares fearing that the social network's decision would force users to leave it.
Twitter shares fell 6.4% and 2.4% on January 11 and 12, respectively. The capitalization of Facebook following the results of two days of trading decreased by $47.6 billion compared to January 8. The market value of Twitter for January 11-12 fell by 3.5 billion dollars, clarifies BI.
By 13:40 GMT on January 13, Facebook's market value was $715.2 billion, Twitter's market value was $47.7 billion.
