Sunflower oil, the price of which the Russian government began to regulate, continued to rise in price

Sunflower oil, the price of which the state began to regulate at the end of 2020, continues to rise in price, Interfax reports with reference to Rosstat.

From January 1 to January 11, the price of sunflower oil increased by 0.1% (in 14 regions - by 1.1-5.3%), the agency cites data from the department.

The cost of sugar (state regulation of prices for it was introduced simultaneously with regulation of the cost of sunflower oil), according to Rosstat, fell by 0.7% over the same period.

• The government, major retail chains and producers signed agreements on reducing and stabilizing prices for sunflower oil and sugar on December 16, 2020.
• This happened after Russian President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the rise in prices. The head of state said that sugar had risen in price by 71.5%, and butter by 23.8%.
