How did the impeachment take place?

The House of Representatives of the US Congress declared impeachment President Trump. The members of the chamber accused him of inciting, false statements about falsifications during the elections. All this, according to congressmen, led to the assault on the Capitol and the deaths of five people.

Why did the last time have announced the impeachment of Trump?

The final vote on impeachment was actually exactly a year ago: January 15, 2020. 230 members of the House of Representatives voted “for”, 197 –– “against”, one abstained. The decision of the House of Representatives was handed over to the Senate, where Trump was acquitted in both articles.

What will the Senate do now?

The leader of the Republicans in the Senate Mitch MacConnell announced that the case of Trump's impeachment would be considered after the inauguration of the newly elected President Joe Biden. According to him, the Senate simply will not have time to make the final decision up to this point, even if the consideration procedure begins right now. At the moment, the Senate is generally on the holidays, and on an emergency order they did not collect him. Bayden will not affect the Trump impeachment procedure in any way.

During the last impeachment of Trump, Mitch Macaconell voted for his excuse. How he is going to vote this time, the senator cannot say with confidence yet. The investigation of the events that occurred on January 6 continues: 60 suspects were charged, and another 170 people were detained. Legislators plan to start a proceedings, within the framework of which it will be established whether someone from Congress helped people who arranged a pogrom in the Capitol. For the week remaining before the inauguration, Mitch Macaconell can observe the investigation and make the final impeach decision.

In order for the removal from power to be accepted, the votes of two -thirds of the Senate are necessary. After that, the Congress will be able to decide whether Trump will be able to apply for state posts in the future.

How Trump reacted and what is happening in the White House

Soon after the impeachment announced, Trump published a pre -recorded video in which he condemned the rebellion in the Capitol. “I unconditionally condemn the violence that we saw last week,” Trump said, adding that “violence and vandalism have absolutely no place in our country and in our movement.”

He noted that he knows about messages that say new upcoming demonstrations and processions. According to him, this is the constitutional right of every American, but there should not be any violence, vandalism on these processions, and each demonstration is obliged to obey law enforcement agencies.

One of the White House advisers, on anonymity, told CNN that Trump is "in self -pity." It is upset that it has been in the siege for the past five years and the fact that people do not protect him strongly. According to the interlocutor of the TV channel, the situation is not at all like the one that has developed during the first impeachment.
