The ECHR awarded 3,700 euros to an activist who was subject to compulsory treatment for a year and a half

The European Court of Human Rights has appointed 3,700 euros as compensation to Viktor Fedoseev, a participant in a rally against pension reform, who was in compulsory treatment for a year and a half. This is reported by "Pravozashchita Postcards" in its telegram channel.

The ECtHR came to the conclusion that the Russian side violated Fedoseev's right to immediately consider by the court the legality of placing him in custody (part 4 of article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights).

for compulsory treatment to a psychiatric hospital Fedoseyev was sent in April 2019. The court made such a decision in connection with his accusation of using violence against the National Guard at the rally on September 9 against the pension reform. He was released only in September 2020.

The hospitalization was preceded by the conclusion of a psychological and psychiatric examination, which stated that Viktor Fedoseev “could not realize the consequences of his actions” and needed treatment.

Fedoseev himself received a head injury and numerous bruises. The defense was conducted by the lawyers of "Pravozashchita Otkrytka" Sergei Badamshin and Oleg Eliseev.
