The Federal Penitentiary Service announced its intention to detain Alexei Navalny until the court decides to replace the suspended sentence

The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) announced its intention to detain politician Alexei Navalny “while establishing his whereabouts.” This was reported to Interfax by the press bureau of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

The department said that they have not known the whereabouts of Alexei Navalny since September 24, 2020, and therefore, on November 27, the Federal Penitentiary Service began initial search activities, and on December 29, the politician was put on the wanted list in the Yves Rocher case.

“Taking into account these facts of malicious violations, guided by the principle of inevitability of responsibility and the requirements of the laws, equally equal for all citizens of the Russian Federation without exception, the Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow is obliged to take all actions to detain the violator A.A. Navalny. until the court decides to replace the suspended sentence with a real one,” the publication cites a fragment of the press bureau’s message.

In 2014, brothers Alexei and Oleg Navalny were found guilty of fraud in the Yves Rocher case. Oleg was sentenced to three and a half years of real life, Alexey - to three and a half years of probation. According to investigators, the brothers stole more than 26 million rubles from the Yves Rocher Vostok company and more than four million rubles from the Multidisciplinary Processing Company. Back in 2013, Yves Rocher provided the Investigative Committee with a report according to which no damage was caused to the company.

The politician became ill on August 20, 2020, on a plane flying from Tomsk to Moscow. After lengthy negotiations, on August 22, Navalny was taken from Russia and hospitalized in the German Charité clinic. Navalny spent about two weeks in a coma, after which he underwent a long course of treatment and rehabilitation in Germany.

On January 12, the Federal Penitentiary Service demanded that Navalny’s suspended sentence, assigned in the Yves Rocher case, be replaced with a real one. The next day, Navalny announced that he would return to Russia on January 17.

Investigators found that a group of FSB officers with medical training had been monitoring Navalny since 2017, and that security forces tried at least three times to poison Navalny with a nerve agent from the Novichok group. The Investigative Committee refused to check the actions of FSB officers, which Navalny accused of poisoning.
