The Omsk court fined the local coordinator of Navalny's headquarters for a rally that had not yet taken place

The Leninsky District Court of Omsk fined the coordinator of Navalny’s local headquarters, Olga Kartavtseva, 20 thousand rubles because of the rally planned for January 23. This is reported by “Apology of Protest”.

The court found Kartavtseva guilty under the article on organizing an uncoordinated action (Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). The protocol on it was drawn up the day before, on January 20. On that day, a group of security forces broke into Navalny’s Omsk headquarters, conducted an inspection and seized posters in support of the politician.

• Supporters of the arrested Navalny announced rallies across Russia on January 23 in support of the politician and demanding an end to his persecution. On January 20, it became known that the pre-trial detention center where Navalny was being held had stopped accepting letters .
• Navalny was arrested after returning to Russia in connection with the Yves Rocher case, in which the politician was sentenced to three and a half years of suspended imprisonment. On January 11, the Federal Penitentiary Service demanded that Navalny’s suspended sentence be replaced with a real one, explaining that Navalny allegedly violated the terms of his probation. The next day, the politician announced that he would fly to Russia on January 17. Soon, the Federal Penitentiary Service announced its intention to detain Navalny “upon establishing his whereabouts.”
