Navalny's chief of staff estimated the number of participants in protests throughout Russia at 250-300 thousand people

On January 23, 250,000-300,000 people in total took part in the protest actions in support of Alexei Navalny throughout the country. This assessment was given by the head of the network of regional headquarters of Navalny, Leonid Volkov.

At least - 250 thousand, but rather - somewhere around 300 thousand.

• Estimates of the number of participants in shares in different sources may differ by an order of magnitude. So, in Moscow, Reuters estimated the number of participants at 40 thousand people, the White Counter project coordinator Dmitry Nesterov - at 15-20 thousand, the police at the beginning of the action counted only 4 thousand people.
• The actions were accompanied by unprecedented detentions. More than 3,500 people were detained throughout the country, more than 1,400 in Moscow.
• The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the actions, expressed confidence that there were a small number of people at them. “Not many people came out. Many people vote for [President Vladimir] Putin,” the official said .
