A participant in protests against pension reform in Vladivostok was compensated for damages from detention

Lawyer Polina Sidelnikova, cooperating with OVD-Info, obtained compensation in the amount of 64,000 rubles for the illegal detention of Andrei Gusev, a participant in a rally against pension reform in Vladivostok on September 15, 2018. She herself informed OVD-Info about this.

On November 25, 2020, the Primorsky Regional Court ruled to compensate Gusev for damages for detention, legal aid costs, and even compensate for paid tickets to the opera, which he was going to go to after the action with his wife, the lawyer reports. The Ministry of Finance made a decision to be implemented.

The court did not make this decision immediately: first, Sidelnikova and her trustee managed to cancel the fine in the regional court, then filed a civil lawsuit with the court of first instance, which satisfied the complaint in the minimum amount. However, the regional court canceled this decision, so Sidelnikova had to apply to the 9th Cassation Court, which returned the case for a new trial to the appellate instance.

• Andrei Gusev was detained with non-alcoholic beer before the start of the action, the defender added. He was fined a thousand rubles under the article on drinking alcohol (Article 20.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). In court, the police officer who compiled the report admitted that he wrote it from other people's words, but he himself did not understand the situation.
