The Sverdlovsk District Court of Kostroma sent a participant of the rally on January 23 in support of Alexei Navalny under house arrest in the case of using violence against a government official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the press service of the court.
The press release did not name the suspect. The assistant to the chairman of the court clarified to Mediazona that the man’s last name was Vinogradov.
According to investigators, he inflicted a “targeted kick to the hip joint” on the head of the public order department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kostroma. The court release states the first letter of the policeman’s last name is “K.” On the website of the Kostroma administration, Mediazona noted, the corresponding position was held by police captain Evgeniy Kuzin.
The suspect confessed during interrogation, the press release said. The investigation asked to place him in a pre-trial detention center, but the court took into account his “permanent place of work and residence”, positive characteristics, and there was no evidence that he was planning to escape.
