A criminal case was opened against the coordinator of Navalny’s headquarters in Belgorod due to a post about police officers

In Belgorod, a criminal case was opened against the coordinator of the local headquarters of Alexei Navalny, Maxim Klimov, for insulting a government official (Article 319 of the Criminal Code), reports 7x7.

“His lawyer Ruslan Lapshin said that Klimov allegedly insulted police officers on social networks more than six months ago,” the publication clarifies.

Human rights activist Evgeniy Sokolov told MBKh Media that the case was initiated because of a post published before the elections to the regional Duma in the fall of 2020. It did mention police officers.

Earlier this morning, searches were carried out at Klimov’s home, as well as at the apartment of his common-law wife’s parents. Klimov himself has been serving administrative arrest for more than a week.

According to human rights activist Evgeny Sokolov, before the rally on January 31 in support of Navalny in the same criminal case, Andrei Ruban and Vladimir Chernyshov, volunteers from the headquarters, were detained as witnesses and taken for questioning to the Investigative Committee.
