
According to the results of 2020, 16.4 thousand new motorcycles were sold in Russia, 25% more than a year earlier. This was reported in the agency "Avtostat" , clarifying that the market of motorcycles in the Russian Federation is growing for the third year in a row.
More than a third of all sales (35%) were on motorcycles of Chinese brands, and then there are Japanese (14%) and German (13.6%) brands. The top 5 also included Indian brands (11.6%) and American motorcycles (7.6%).
At the same time, in the ranking of individual brands in 2020, a leader was replaced by a leader. Earlier in Russia, BMW motorcycles were most often bought, but last year the German company lost the first place in the Chinese Racer, the sales of which amounted to 2354 motorcycles (+46%), while 2217 pieces were sold 2% less than in 2019. In third place was the Indian Bajaj (1898 pieces, +31%). The five leaders also hit Motoland (1551 pieces, +73%) and Harley-Davidson (1153 pieces +19%).
Recall, according to the European Business Association (AEB), the sales of new cars and light commercial cars in Russia in 2020 amounted to 1,598,825 units, declining by 9.1% compared to 2019.
At the end of the year, AvtoVAZ, the sales of which amounted to 343,512 LADA cars, was preserved in the market, and decreasing by 5%. Next are KIA (201 727 cars -11%), Hyundai (163 244 cars, -9%), Renault (128 408 machines, -11%), Volkswagen (100 171 machine, -4%), Skoda (94,632 machines, +7%), Toyota (91,598 cars, -12%),,,, -12%) Nissan (56 352 machines, -13%), gas (51,169 cars, -20%) and BMW (42 721 machine, +3%). The TOP-5 of the most popular models on the Russian car market in 2020 included Lada Granta (126 112 cars), Lada Vesta (107,281 vehicles), Kia Rio (88 064 cars), Hyundai Creta (73,537 cars) and Volkswagen Polo (58,455 cars).
The AEB noted that 2020 turned out to be one of the most difficult for the Russian car market, but as a result of the dynamics of sales last year, Russia showed one of the best results among the largest automobile markets in the world, and in Europe reached fourth place. Analysts believe that this year the market growth will be 2.1%, and in absolute numbers sales will grow by 33,000 cars and amount to 1,632,000 vehicles.
