Medvedev announced the readiness of the authorities to disconnect the Russian Federation from the global network, "if someone completely demolishes his head"

The disconnection of Russia from the global network is possible, but the authorities have an action plan for this case, said the deputy chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev in an interview with the Russian media.

“The Internet, as you know, appeared at a certain time and, of course, key rights to management - in the United States of America. So potentially, if something is emergency, if someone completely demolishes, this can happen. It can happen because the keys to this Larchik are behind the ocean,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Medvedev mentioned the already sounding threats of disconnecting the country from the Swift International Settlement System.

“This is not the Internet in its pure form, this is still such an adjective for banking, but they are constantly scared of this. We were even forced to create our own information transmission system if it suddenly happens so that we could exchange electronic messages. The same can happen with the Internet, and then we will not have access to the main nodes of this network,” Medvedev added.

The deputy head of the Security Council recalled that against the backdrop of such risks, a law on the Russian Internet segment was adopted so that it could be controlled autonomously. “Since the Internet has been tied to the Internet, the receipt of a huge amount of social functions is tied up. We could not leave it without control. Therefore, there is such a law, and if necessary, it will enter into force,” Medvedev concluded.

The financial message transfer system (SPFS) was created in response to the risks of a possible disconnection of Russian banks from SWIFT - the International Interbank System for Transfer of Information and Payments. More than 11 thousand largest organizations are connected to it in almost all countries of the world. The press regularly reports that Russia can be disconnected from SWIFT as part of the sanctions by the West.

The Law on the sovereign Runet, which vested with broad powers Roskomnadzor, entered into force on November 1, 2019. According to the law, the agency is responsible for "coordination of ensuring sustainable, safe and holistic functioning on the territory of the Internet of the Internet." In case of threats to the stable operation of the Internet in the country, Roskomnadzor may be carried out by "centralized management of a public communication network." The document says that communication operators should ensure the installation of technical means of counteracting threats (TSPU) of stability, safety and integrity of the Internet in Russia in their network. We are talking about equipment for filtering traffic using DPI technology, which can be used for a more reliable blocking of prohibited sites.
