Ilon’s chip implanted in the brain, Mask allowed the monkey to play computer games with the power of thought

Neuralink, founded by Ilon Mask, has achieved new successes in creating a neuro interface to combine the brain and computer, writes Bloomberg .

According to Musk himself during a video conference in the Clubhouse application, Neuralink managers managed to implant a miniature chip into the experimental monkey, and now this monkey can play computer games with the help of thought power.

“We have a monkey with a wireless implant in the skull with tiny wires, which can play video games with the power of thought. The implant cannot be discerned, and the monkey is quite happy. We have the best monkey in the world. We want them to play mental pung,” Musk said, promising to publish a video with experimental animals.

Recall that Neuralink was founded in 2017. Then Musk said that the goal of Neuralink is to create neuroimplants that will help to treat epilepsy and mental disorders. The entrepreneur also noted that in the future the company will create an affordable neuro interface that will allow you to connect the brain with a computer. Such a device can be useful to people with robotic prostheses - with its help they will be able to better control artificial limbs.

By the summer of 2019, researchers conducted several operations to implant threads into the rats of rats and tested devices for recording data. In August 2020, in August last year, the company introduced an updated version of the Link chips implanted in the brain, which were experienced on pigs. It was assumed that the clinical trials of chips in public will begin until the end of 2020, but, apparently, so far the company has been conducting experiments on monkeys.

As Mask noted during last year’s presentation, in the future, Link chips, among other things, will allow you to broadcast music directly into the brain, call on Tesla electric cars “Thoughts”, or play computer games without joystick or keyboard.

“I think in the future you can save and lose memories. This, of course, sounds more like a series of“ black mirror ”, but I think they predict [technology] well enough. You can unload, save and make a backup copy of the memories, as well as restore memories. And ultimately you can load them into a new body or in a robotelo,” Musk said.
