The USA, Germany and Great Britain demanded the release of Navalny

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken Foreign , British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and the German Ministry called for the release of politician Alexei Navalny, whose suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case was replaced with a real one and sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

“The United States is deeply concerned by Russia’s actions regarding Alexei Navalny. We reiterate our call for his immediate and unconditional release, and for the release of all those unlawfully detained for exercising their rights,” the US statement said.

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab also demanded “the immediate and unconditional release of Alexei Navalny and all peaceful protesters and journalists arrested over the past two weeks.”

“The sentencing of Alexei Navalny is a bitter blow to the firmly established rights of freedom and the rule of law in Russia. Alexei Navalny must be released immediately,” the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier today, the Simonovsky District Court of Moscow, at an off-site hearing in the Moscow City Court, decided to replace Navalny’s suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one. Taking into account the time spent in a pre-trial detention center and under house arrest, the oppositionist will stay in a colony for two years and eight months.
