The developers of the Sputnik V vaccine reported on its effectiveness of 91.6 percent

One of the most authoritative scientific journals in the world - Lancet - published the intermediate results of the third stage of testing the Russian Vaccine "Sputnik V" from a new type of coronaviral infection. The effectiveness of the drug was 91.6 percent, the publication says .

Vaccination took place in two stages: two doses were introduced with an interval of 21 days. Volunteers received a vaccine or placebo, the ratio of the number of participants was 3 to 1. The analysis included data from 19,866 volunteers who received both injection of a vaccine or placebo, excluded minors, pregnant women, HIV and patients with hepatitis B or S.

During the study, it became known about the four deaths of participants - three deaths were recorded in the vaccination group and one in the placebo group. Researchers do not associate these incidents with the drug. 45 participants complained about serious side effects - this is about 0.3 percent of the testers.

"Sputnik V" was developed by the Moscow National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology, it uses a new technology for the work of such drugs, delivering coronavirus into the adenovirus genome.

The registration of the "satellite" took place before the publications of the test results and was accompanied by high -profile political statements, this caused many experts and members of the scientific community to fears regarding its effectiveness.

In Russia, mass vaccination with the drug has been declared, but complaints about the lack of a drug continue to come from the regions. In addition, the immunization of the "satellite" takes place in Argentina.

After the vaccination of 200 thousand people, the Ministry of Health of the Latin American Republic issued a report on the side effects of the Russian drug. Unwanted phenomena were detected in 4.5 percent of cases - basically, we are talking about increasing temperature, headaches and pain at the injection site.
