The Tverskaya District Court of Moscow arrested for 25 days the chief editor of the Mediazona Sergey Smirnov for retweet, indicating the time of the action in support of the politician Alexei Navalny on January 23. This was announced by the correspondent of "Mediazone" Yegor Skovoroda.

Judge Alexander Merkulov found Smirnov guilty of repeated violation of the rules of the rally (part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses; maximum punishment - 30 days of arrest). Merkulov refused most of the defense petitions - the call to the court of the operative of the Center “E” Grebenchukov, whose report formed the basis of the case, and police officers who detained Smirnov, as well as about the interrogation of the journalist’s wife as a witness and the appointment of a linguistic examination.

The reason for the administrative case was a retweet of someone else's joke about the external similarity of the editor-in-chief with the leader of the punk group "Cockroaches" Dmitry Spirin. The record that Smirnov retained was illustrated by a collage with a photograph of the musician and indicating the time of the promotion. Thus, it is said in a police officer, Smirnov "committed the organization of a public event."

The mother’s apartment, where the journalist was registered, came with a search on January 27; The security forces seized a hard drive and several books. Three days later, on January 30, the police detained Smirnov while walking with a five -year -old son. The chief editor of the "Mediazons" was held in the police department until the evening, and then released with an obligation to turn to the court.
