The court placed Moscow municipal deputy Stein under house arrest over a “sanitary case”

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow placed municipal deputy Lyusya Stein under house arrest until March 23 for a “sanitary matter.” Court press secretary Irina Morozova reported this to Mediazona.

Stein is suspected of inciting violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards (under Part 4 of Article 33, Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code).

The resolution to initiate a criminal case, available to Mediazona, clarifies that the reason for the persecution was the deputy’s tweet: “It’s cool to joke, but on January 23 you still need to go out into the street and tell your grandfather and his friends to f*** [member] (even though I don’t believe in anything and don’t expect anything, I can’t sit at home).”

The day after the protest, on January 24, the Investigative Committee opened a case for violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules. According to him, supporters of politician Alexei Navalny were subject to massive searches.

According to investigators, from January 18 to 23, “unidentified persons” published posts calling for participation in a rally in support of Navalny on Pushkinskaya Square in the center of Moscow.

As a result, the Investigative Committee believes that on the afternoon of January 23, at least 500 people, “acting on the above call,” came to the center of Moscow. Among them were those who, based on the decree of the chief sanitary doctor of Moscow, had to remain in isolation. Thus, the threat of “mass illness of people due to negligence” was created.
