OVD-Info demands to immediately free all the arrested journalists

The team of the human rights project of the OTD-Info expresses solidarity with the chief editor of the Mediazone, the chief editor of the Mediazone Sergei Smirnov and requires the immediate liberation of his and all other arrested journalists.

Sergei was arrested for absurd occasions - it is obvious that the real reason was the honest and uncompromising coverage of the police violence in the materials of the publication, which he heads. Such pressure on the media in a legal state is absolutely unacceptable.

The ATS-Info team condemns other episodes of pressure and violence by the state related to the fulfillment by journalists of their professional duties. The main goal of our project is to protect the right to freedom of assembly, but it cannot be achieved if freedom of speech is threatened.

Since the beginning of mass protests in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23, the ten journalists were unlawfully detained.

• Vladimir Perekoty (creator of the portal "Dela.Ru", leading "Authoritative Radio") - was detained for 48 hours
• Maria Nuikina ("Arsenyevsky News") - arrest 2 days
• Olga Vasiliev ("Caucasian Knot") - detained for 48 hours

Of course, not only journalists should be immediately exempted, but all participants in the peaceful protest shares who exercised their right to freedom of assembly.
