The Ministry of Internal Affairs wants to develop an anti-fraud service in its mobile application. This was reported by Kommersant with reference to government procurement data .

As follows from the terms of reference of the tender, they plan to add the “Anti-Fraud” model to the Ministry of Internal Affairs application, which was supposed to block calls from numbers located in the Ministry of Internal Affairs database.

To use the module, you must provide the application with contacts from your phone book. The program will check the incoming call number with numbers from the police database. In addition, the application will be able to add new numbers and delete old ones from the user's phone book.

The documentation emphasizes that the program should not track the user's call data, even if the caller's number matches the number from the scam database.

The head of the information security department at SearchInform, Alexey Drozd, in a conversation with Kommersant, explained that when installing a new function, the application “will have functionality similar to the services for collecting phone numbers Who Calls and GetContact .” “Apparently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to expand its database with user contacts,” he believes.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs denies that “the terms of reference for the development of the Anti-Fraud module provide access to the user’s contact list.” At the same time, the documents attached to the government procurement state that Anti-Fraud must have “the functionality of checking the local array of telephone numbers stored on the user’s mobile device with the array of telephone numbers contained in the local mirroring server.”
