The Leninsky District Court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention against Yevgeny Tugankov, a participant in the January 31 rally in support of Navalny. This was reported by the press service of the courts of the city.
The protester was charged under an article on violence against a representative of the authorities (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, several people during the rally, being on Pioneer Square, “inflicted at least two blows with their fists on the head area” of the riot police officer, “pushed him in the torso with their hands.”
Tugankov was detained during the action itself. The court chose a measure of restraint until March 30.
Tugankov's acquaintances said that since January 31 he had not been in contact, his exact location became known only after the publication of a press release from the court. At the same time, even before the publication, the Fontanka.ru correspondent had information that the protester was being held in a temporary detention center as part of the case under Article 318 of the Criminal Code.
February 6 Yevgeny Tugankov's interests will be represented by lawyer Svetlana Ratnikova, cooperating with OVD-Info. Alla Frolova, coordinator of legal assistance at OVD-Info, reported this.
On March 9, the St. Petersburg City Court on March 3 rejected the defense's complaint and upheld Tugankov's arrest.
