The Basmanny District Court placed Konstantin Yankauskas, a municipal deputy of the Moscow Zyuzino district, under house arrest until March 23. This was reported by lawyer from OVD-Info Ilya Utkin.
Yankauskas is accused in a “sanitary case” under Article 236 of the Criminal Code (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules).
Initially, a separate case was opened against the deputy for retweeting Alexei Navalny’s appeal. Currently, the Yankauskas case has been combined with the main “sanitary case”, which involves 11 people, including Navalny’s brother Oleg, lawyer of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) Lyubov Sobol, municipal deputy Lyusya Stein and fund employee Nikolai Lyaskin. According to investigators, these people called for people to come to the rally in support of Navalny on January 23, that is, to violate sanitary and epidemiological rules.
The day before the hearing, the investigator refused to show lawyer Utkin his petition for a preventive measure and verbally stated that he would demand that the Mundep be sent to a pre-trial detention center.
Previously, the rest of the defendants in the “sanitary case” were also sent under house arrest.
