The organizers of the march in memory of Boris Nemtsov did not coordinate with the Moscow mayor's office for the march on the day of the politician's murder on February 27. This was reported by one of the members of the march organizing committee, oppositionist Dmitry Gudkov.

“We understand that under the pretext of coronavirus, all rallies are prohibited and no march will be approved this year,” he explained.

Instead, the organizers invited Nemtsov’s supporters to lay flowers at the site of his murder on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge on February 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. and hold a minute of silence there at night. They are going to ask the mayor's office not to interfere with this.

A few days ago, the organizers told Kommersant that they were going to submit a notification to the Moscow mayor’s office on February 15 about a march with the same route and the number of participants up to 50 thousand people.

Previously, the mayor's office, due to a ban on public events, did not approve a rally of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation against political repression and a rally of the Libertarian Party in support of Alexei Navalny on February 23.

Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015 on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge near the Kremlin. In July 2017, based on a jury verdict , the Moscow District Military Court sentenced the alleged murderer Zaur Dadaev to 20 years in a maximum security colony. The remaining defendants received sentences ranging from 11 to 19 years in prison. The masterminds of the murder have not yet been found.
