The ECHR awarded more than 400 thousand euros to eight Russians due to torture by security forces

The European Court of Human Rights awarded 409,506 euros to eight Russians who suffered from torture by security forces. The decision was published in the court file.

According to the court ruling, another applicant, Aydin Mansurov from Primorye, said that in 2005, police officers beat him, pinned his finger in a doorway and threatened to rape him, demanding that he confess to an apartment robbery case.

As stated in the court decision, in 2008, Igor Burobin from Ryazan was in custody in connection with a murder case. According to him, on the way to questioning, a police officer used a stun gun on him in the car.

The ECHR found that the Russian authorities violated Article 3 of the European Convention (prohibition of torture) in relation to eight citizens, and in relation to several applicants - Article 5 (the right to freedom and security of person) and Article 6 (the right to a fair trial).
