Politician Alexei Navalny's wife Yulia gave a long interview to Harper's Bazaar magazine. The publication publishes excerpts from the conversation on its website, and it is available in full in the March issue.

The interview was conducted on January 11, before Navalny returned to Russia from Germany and was detained and later sentenced to imprisonment for violating the rules of conduct for a suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case.

In the interview, Navalnaya talked about how she copes with pressure, about her fears after the poisoning, and about her family life.

I like what Alexey does, I think it’s right. Sometimes it’s a little scary, more often after August . But he doesn’t back down, and neither will I. Not very good people want to stop him, which means we can’t let them. It’s wrong. And I admire him not because he’s my husband, but because I’m his supporter and the person who knows better than anyone what all these years have cost him. And secondly, I see my main task as ensuring that, despite everything, nothing changes in our family: the children remain children, and the home remains a home. And I don’t want to think anything through – I’ll say this now, and then that. I want to be myself.

Navalnaya noted that in life she practically never encounters aggression - neither in public places, nor at the school where her children study, nor on the street, but on the Internet "there is work to intimidate". "It seems that [those who write nasty things to me] watched a talk show on TV, drank, relaxed and blurted out some nonsense. There is often a meaningless set of words, less often sentences," the Dozhd TV channel website quotes an excerpt from the interview.

When asked about the likelihood of her becoming a public figure, Navalnaya said, “at the moment, no,” and explained that she is “much more interested in being the wife of a politician.”
