The Volgograd administration did not approve a rally in memory of Boris Nemtsov

The administration of Volgograd did not agree on a rally in memory of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. This was reported on February 18 by the "Caucasian Knot".

A rally demanding an investigation into the murder of Nemtsov was planned to be held on the anniversary of his death - February 27. Igor Konotopov, a representative of the local branch of PARNAS, submitted an application for holding an event with up to a hundred people. Officials did not agree on the action, citing the unfavorable epidemiological situation.

On February 18, Konotopov turned to the coronavirus operational headquarters to coordinate the action with them. “I called the administration, they told me that the headquarters does not register appeals, they told me to just throw the application in the box at the administration. If they agree, then the rally, in theory, can take place. The law does not specify at what point I must submit an agreement with the headquarters. I submitted my notice on time. If the headquarters does not play for time, then I can bring an agreement from the headquarters to the administration,” Konotopov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

Along with the refusal to agree, the activist was given a warning. “When I received a response in the administration’s office, they gave me a warning to sign that, under the new law, the queue for a picket and single pickets with posters of the same meaning would be considered illegal,” Konotopov said.
