FSB: In St. Petersburg, they stopped the supply of cocaine to the Russian Federation

The Federal Security Service reported on the suppression of the international channel for the supply of cocaine to Russia. This was written by TASS with reference to the Center for Public Relations of the FSB.

According to the FSB, this was done by the employees of the border department of the Service for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region together with the "territorial security body". As a result, according to the FSB, three foreign citizens were detained. Over 60 kilograms of cocaine were seized from them, the service claims.

Criminal cases were instituted on the attempt on illegal production, sale or transfer of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale (part 5 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code). The defendants are facing a lifelong conclusion, TASS notes.

In June 2019, in the port of St. Petersburg, customs officers discovered 400 kilograms of cocaine worth about 4.5 billion rubles. Later it became known that almost a year before, a citizen of Ecuador and Spain Montoya Fernando Alfonso Sanchez was detained: according to investigators, he was engaged in smuggling cocaine through the city port. Sanchez was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security colony, he was also connected with the organized crime group, which was created by Cortes of Khodes, Francisco Shavier, nicknamed Pedro, a participant in the South American drug cartel operating in South America and the European Union.
