MEGAFON 5G-Internet in international roaming reached a speed of 1.1 Gb/s

Megaphone tested the capabilities of the international 5G-rumor network, increasing the speed of mobile data to 1.1 Gbit/s. The result was recorded in Helsinki using the SpeedTest application on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G smartphone.

“The result obtained is five times higher than the necessary speed for the comfortable use of mobile Internet in 5G Ruming, but with such a rapid development of technology, perhaps this indicator will soon become familiar to us. Megaphone traditionally pays great attention to the quality of communication, including data transfer speeds - we are leading in this indicator among Russian operators and we want to be sure that our subscribers are gradual on the borders and on foreign trips with the fastest Internet, ”comments the commercial director of Megaphone Vlad Wolfson.

Testing made it possible to determine the current 5G speed potential in international roaming. In the near future, gigabit speeds will give subscribers to get a completely new user experience, for example, they will help to completely immerse themselves in AR and VR technology, and run video sketches from 4K and 8K formats from a smartphone.

In February 2020, Megaphone was the first among Russian operators to propose to his subscribers an international 5G ruming. Now it is already available in 17 out of 56* countries of the world, where the fifth -generation networks are launched into commercial operation: in Bahrain, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Kuwait, Latvia, Monaco, the Netherlands, the UAE, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Arabia, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia and South Korea.

Connection to the fifth -generation network is possible using any smartphone with support for this technology. Depending on the model, the subscriber may be required to convert the device to 5G mode. According to the results of January 2021, more than 200 thousand such devices were registered in the megaphone network, over a year their number increased more than 500 times.
