Ukrainian delegation in the so -called The trilateral contact group to resolve the situation in the Donbass ( Minsk Group, the Contact Group for the settlement of the situation in the southeast of Ukraine - E. R. ) again turned to Russia with an appeal to provide access to nuclear facilities in the territory of the unrecognized Donetsk People’s Republic.
“Boris Gryzlov could not answer the question of the head of the Ukrainian delegation regarding the admission of the IAEA inspection to the occupied territory,” the official statement of the Ukrainian delegation, which is headed by the ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, said.
The trilateral contact group of representatives of Ukraine, the OSCE and Russia was created in the summer of 2014 as a working body to resolve operational issues requiring interaction between the warring parties to the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, including issues related to the implementation of decisions adopted in the so -called Norman format (Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine).
Under nuclear objects, the Ukrainian side means, among other things, the Yunkom mine near Enakievo, where in 1979, Soviet scientists at a depth of 903 meters blew up a nuclear charge. According to the official version, the goal of the experiment was an attempt to save the mine from excess methane in coal deposits.
Judging by the fact that such a practice was no longer applied, the theory did not find its confirmation. The melting as a result of the explosion of the breed formed a large, up to 6 meters in diameter, an uneven glass capsule, allegedly filled with radiation -polluted water. Until 2018, the mine was on the so -called Dry conservation: water was pumped out of it to prevent flooding.
The authorities of the "DPR" decided to flood the mine.
Ecologists fear that this can violate the integrity of the capsule, radioactive substances will fall into the ground, and there will be an infection of water -bearing horizons associated, including, with the territories of the Rostov region and the entire coast of the Sea of Azov in Ukraine. In addition, scientists do not have an accurate idea of the state of ponds-storage ponds, in which for many years “heavy water” from the mine has accumulated.
The DPR authorities say they are under control, and offer to send the results of their research to the IAEA. Attempts by the Ukrainian side to send there international nuclear experts in Donetsk are considered the next provocation of Kyiv.
According to the results of the meeting of the Minsk Group, the Russian delegation on February 17 on admission to nuclear facilities in the territory of the unrecognized republic said nothing.
“Today, representatives of the Donbass have come out with the initiative to hold the International Scientific and Practical Conference“ On the implementation of the Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in the Donbass ”. The idea of the conference is certainly important. Such an event would contribute to the formation of a unified understanding of the essence and content of the spirit and letters of the Minsk agreements that would further contribute to the practical settlement of the conflict, ”Gryzlov said TASS in the TKG meeting in the format of video conference.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation in TKG Leonid Kravchuk on February 11, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council, said that the Donbass is on the verge of an ecological disaster as a result of radioactive emissions provoked by the actions of the authorities of the self -proclaimed republic. He actually accused Russia of not in a hurry to agree to the presence of the monitoring ecological commission in the territories that Kyiv considers to be controlled by Moscow.
“Ukraine reserves the right to apply to the world community, governments and organizations so that the pressure on the Russian Federation intensifies, the specified inspection was carried out, and Ukraine was able to fulfill its obligations within the framework of the agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA on the application of guarantees in connection with the agreement on the non -proliferation of nuclear weapons and the additional protocol for this agreement,” representatives of the Ukrainian delegation said on the results of the meeting of the Ukrainian delegation on February 17 in TKG.
