
After a long illness, the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Honored Doctor of Russia Igor Likhanov died, the press service of the regional parliament said .

In 1976, he began working as a surgeon of the breast surgery of the regional clinical hospital, after 11 years he became deputy chief physician. From 1994 to 2013, Likhanov headed the hospital.
Likhanov was a member of United Russia. Since 2004, he has been a deputy of the Chita Regional Duma, then the Legislative Assembly of the region. In April 2016, he took the post of chairman of the Legislative Assembly.
