Navalny was transferred from the Matrosskaya Tishina pretrial detention center to a penal colony

Updated . POC member Eva Merkacheva confirmed that Navalny was taken to a penal colony. “I don’t know which one,” she said.

Politician Alexei Navalny was transferred from Moscow's SIZO-1 "Matrosskaya Tishina". This was stated by his lawyer Vadim Kobzev.

"Today, when I came to the pretrial detention center to meet with Navalny, I was told that he had left the pretrial detention center. They didn't tell me where he had gone, most likely to a penal colony, but perhaps somewhere else," the lawyer said in a conversation with Interfax.

In a comment to Open Media, Kobzev explained that when Navalny arrives at the colony, he will have to be given the opportunity to inform his relatives of his whereabouts, but it could take “several weeks” to transport him to his destination. “In his case, I hope this will not happen. We are also hoping for help from journalists and the Public Monitoring Commission ,” the lawyer said.

• On February 2, the Simonovsky District Court of Moscow sent Navalny to a penal colony, finding him guilty of violating the duties of a conditionally sentenced person in the Yves Rocher case. On February 20, the Moscow City Court upheld the sentence, after which it came into force.
• Navalny will have to spend two and a half years in prison.
