Nick Cave (suddenly!) released a new album recorded with composer Warren Ellis. Brutal - and very beautiful

Australian rock musician Nick Cave unexpectedly released the album "Carnage". The record was recorded together with his longtime colleague and partner, multi-instrumentalist and composer Warren Ellis, known for his work with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Dirty Three and Grinderman. In addition, Ellis has been writing film soundtracks with Cave for many years.

"Carnage" includes eight tracks recorded over a couple of weeks at a studio in London during the lockdown. Cave wrote the lyrics to all the songs on the record, but he composed the music with Ellis. Cave played piano, synthesizer and percussion. Ellis was responsible for the violin, viola, alto flute, tenor guitar, piano, harmonium, synthesizer, drum machine, glockenspiel and (fuh!) Autoharp. Oh yes, Ellis also did backing vocals!

Cave describes "Carnage" as a very beautiful, but still "brutal" record, which is built into a "social disaster".

The album will be released on CD and vinyl on May 28th.
