Against the professor who denied the Holocaust, they can initiate a criminal case

The prosecutor's office of the Leningrad Region saw the signs of rehabilitation of Nazism (part 1 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) in the speech of the lecturer, which stated that the Holocaust is a “myth” and “fiction”. The name of the lecturer in the statement of the prosecutor’s office is not mentioned, but TASS, citing the press service of the supervisory authority, writes that we are talking about professor Vladimir Matveeva.

As the prosecutor's office established, on January 21, one of the lecturers of the training webinar for teachers said that there were no mass destruction of Jews during the Second World War. In the supervisory authority, his words were considered by the actions of the rehabilitation of Nazism - namely, the denial of the facts established by the verdict of the International Military Tribunal for the court and the punishment of the main military criminals of the European countries of the axis.

The verification materials were transferred to the investigating authorities to resolve the issue of initiating a criminal case on the rehabilitation of Nazism. The minimum punishment under this article is a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles, the maximum is imprisonment for up to three years.

During the event, Professor Vladimir Matveev said that “there was no Holocaust”, and gas chambers in concentration camps were “used for disinfection”. "Papers" spoke in detail about the incident.

Matveev taught at RANEPS and SPbGEU. Subsequently, he was fired from both universities.
