Daria Apakhonchich filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Justice

The St. Petersburg female activist, the artist and teacher of the Russian language Daria Apakhonchich, included in the list of individuals, filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on recognizing this decision illegal. This was reported by "Medusa" with reference to the Human Rights Office of Agora.

The lawsuit was filed in the Leninsky District Court of St. Petersburg. In the statement, Apakhonchich indicates that the Ministry of Justice violated the norms of Russian laws and international law, including it in the list of media-regents. Petersburger emphasizes that the decision of the Ministry of Justice violates the principle of equality guaranteed by the Constitution, as well as the right to freedom of expression and respect for private life.

Apakhonchich added that she never received money and other property from foreign sources to create and disseminate materials as a media-foreign agent. From the Ministry of Justice, she demanded to prove the opposite.

The Ministry of Justice included Daria Apakhonchich in the register of media - foreign agents in December. Together with her, three journalists and human rights activist Lev Ponomarev were on the list. "Paper" said that this was known.

On March 1, the law on fines for individuals-agent entered into force: it will amount to 30-50 thousand rubles if they untimely provide the authorities with information about themselves, and 50-100 thousand for the distribution of their publications without marking. Any person who disseminates information about them or their materials without indicating the status of a foreign agent faces a fine of 2-2.5 thousand rubles.
