Human rights activists urge the Russian authorities to interrogate the prisoners who have given confessions, including Sergei Shmakov, ensuring security and providing state protection.

In 2021, two prisoners from the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Irkutsk Region were hospitalized after torture and rape. Their relatives said that they were "knocked out" by the recognition of the rebellion in colony No. 15 of the city of Angarsk.
