In Russia, the first verdict in the case of an attack on a police officer on the rally on January 23 was sentenced

The Sverdlovsk District Court of Kostroma sentenced the 26-year-old Alexei Vinogradov by 1.5 years of forced labor under the article on the application of violence to a police officer during the rally on January 23, the OVD-Info reports with reference to the press service of the court. This is the first verdict under this article over the past in winter protests in Russia.

“During the detention of one of the participants in the unauthorized rally, V. decided to intervene in the detention process - he tore the formal headdress from the police officer - the victim, and also inflicted a targeted kick into the buttock area, causing the latter physical pain and bodily damage, which did not cause harm to health,” the press service of the court said.

The defendant pleaded guilty. The press service of the court said that the consideration of the case against V. was held in a special manner.

The court sentenced the participant in the action to deprivation of liberty, but decided that his correction was possible without serving a sentence in the colony, so he replaced his punishment with forced labor.

As the press service clarifies, the convict will serve his sentence in a specialized correctional center with a deduction of 10% wages to state revenue.

Alexei Vinogradov was sent under house arrest on January 27. The investigation asked to place it in a pre -trial detention center, but the court took into account the "permanent place of work and residence", positive characteristics. In addition, the court did not see evidence that the accused was planning to hide.

January 23 and 31, as well as on February 2, in Moscow and throughout Russia, shares were held in support of the arrested opposition politician Alexei Navalny. The authorities responded to these protests unprecedented in scale repressions, including searches, mass administrative arrests and the initiation of 90 criminal cases. In total, in connection with the shares in support of Navalny, more than 11 thousand people were detained. In Moscow alone, over 1250 people underwent administrative arrest for participating in protests.
